After Atheism

I’m starting this blog to continue a conversation I began in my book, Old Bug, which boils down to this: If you don’t, or can’t, or won’t believe in God – and all that such belief implies about morality, mortality, meaning and life’s multitude of other mysteries – then what do you believe? Upon what ground do you stand? What beliefs, what faith, gets you through the day – and through the night?

The debate raging between religion and science, faith and fact, has been raging for at least 500 years now, and from where I’m standing, there’s no resolution in sight. I leave that debate to others. My interest, as someone who gave up on Catholicism and any other form of organized religion many years back, is in moving on. My plan is to post my thoughts on places that seem promising… and invite yours.

Welcome to the conversation.
